Commission launches Open Public Consultation on new Urban Mobility Initiative

The European Commission invites the general public and stakeholders to share their opinion on the new Urban Mobility initiative by 23 September. This new initiative aims to support the development of sustainable, efficient and accessible urban transport systems across the EU.

The new Urban Mobility Initiative proposes measures to encourage the development of urban transport systems that are safe, accessible, inclusive, affordable, smart, resilient and emission-free across the European Union. An important part will be dedicated to strengthening the role of urban nodes on the Trans-European Transport (TEN-T) Network as vital enablers of sustainable, efficient and multi-modal transport.

The initiative also addresses transport pollution and congestion, and draw lessons from COVID-19’s effect on public transport to support the transition towards a climate-neutral economy and emission-free transport at local level.

The Open Public Consultation will be open for 12 weeks, closing on 23 September 2021.

More information regarding the open public consultation is available here.
