Barcelona wins Covenant Cities in the Spotlight awards!

European Commissioner for Climate Action and Energy Miguel Arias Cañete announced the winners of the first ever Covenant Cities in the Spotlight awards at the European Week of Regions and Cities, last Wednesday, October 10th 2018.

The respective winners in the three categories are:

• Small-sized signatory (<10,000 inhabitants): Monsano, Italy. See their Covenant of Mayors profile.
• Medium-sized signatory (10,000- 250,000 inhabitants): Sønderborg, Denmark. See their Covenant of Mayors profile.
• Large-sized signatory (>250,000 inhabitants): Barcelona, Spain. See their Covenant of Mayors profile.

Congratulations to these 3 cities that have achieved outstanding progress within the Covenant of Mayors framework!

The winners will be invited to the International Conference on Climate Action (ICCA) to take place in May 2019 in Heidelberg, Germany, where they will meet representatives of the European Covenant of Mayors Political Board.
