P3ITS

P3ITS (Pre-commercial Public Procurement for ITS innovation and deployment) explored the efficient procurement of innovation to support ITS and establish a network of experts.

The project has resulted in:

  • Better understanding of the socio-economic benefits of pre-commercial procurement (PCP), as well as difficulties and barriers to wider use of PCP in Europe;
  • Higher level of awareness about what PCP really is and how it can be launched (among others for ITS actors and stakeholders);
  • Support to public authorities in their task of deploying ITS through a new tool for public support to innovation;
  • Identify which actions or initiatives are still needed to result in common use of PCP for ITS deployment.

The project was funded by the European Commission's Directorate General for Mobility and Transport thought the FP7 Programme - ICT Information and Communication Technology. It ran from January 2010 to September 2011.
