New speakers confirmed at Polis working group meeting on active travel
The programme of the Polis working group meeting on Tuesday, April 8th now boasts two remarkable speakers who will present the most recent achievements in integrating public health into planning processes at the local level.
Our first confirmed speaker is Mr Raymond Linssen, Rijkswaterstaat (NL). He will present the Healthy Urbanisation project in Utrecht. Healthy Urbanization is a subject for which cooperation is vital. For example between green space and water and between mobility and space. It involves cooperation with other authorities, social organizations, businesses and society. Since 2012 Rijkswaterstaat has been working on this subject and in January 2014 a successful field trip has been organised in the city of Utrecht.
The second confimed speaker is Mr Paul Curtis, London European Partnership for Transport (UK). He will introduce the Transport for London’s NEW "Health Improvement Action Plan". The plan sets out how TfL will change how it works over 3 years to integrate public health in transport planning. It is the first such plan in the world from a transport authority.
The Polis working group will meet on April 7th already for a joint PASTA and Stepping Stones workshop to talk about active travel and travel behavioural change approaches.
The meetings are open to local authorities, practitioners, health and transport experts.
