Methodology for evaluating the impacts of ITC/ITS measures on mobility. Report available!

This document describes the methodology developed by ICT-Emissions project. The document is structured into three parts: Brief introduction, project objectives, useful definitions and explanations of issues to be dealt with; Detailed description of the ITS measures, description of the methodology, evaluation process and simulation methods; Affected parameters and the corresponding simulation.

Particular emphasis is given to new vehicle technologies with increasing popularity in the coming years, including start-stop systems, hybrids, plug-in hybrids and electric vehicles, etc.

Selected measures are clustered into 5 categories:

  • Driver behaviour change and eco driving;
  • Navigation and travel information;
  • Traffic management and control;
  • Demand & access management; and
  • Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

The methodology further defines the models level and points out the need of integration and enhancement of micro and macro models (traffic and emission).

Report authors: IVECO, AVL List GmbH, Berner & Mattner Systemtechnik (B&M), Universidad Politecnica de Madrid (UPM), Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (LAT), Joint Research Centre (JRC) – Institute for Environment and Transport (IET).
