Don’t miss this year’s European Mobility Week!

The EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK is a cornerstone of the European sustainable urban mobility initiative for more than 20 years. Similar to previous years, the week of celebrations of sustainable mobility will take place from 16 until 22 September and will peak with the car-free Sunday that is organised across many European cities.

After last year’s 20th anniversary, the EU initiative is dedicated to start a new decade by focusing on the topic of ‘Mix & Move’. The theme celebrates a return to normality after two challenging years under the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic. ‘Mix & Move’ doesn’t just celebrate the return of a mostly normal urban life, but also encourages people to meet up, use public transport, and enjoy the time together.

Even though the EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK campaign is still under the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, as public transport numbers have not returned to pre-pandemic levels, but active mobility significantly increased in many cities, this year will be used to look forward. As POLIS Network, we are proud to steer and support one of the oldest European-wide initiatives that support sustainable mobility.

How can you learn about events in your city? How can you participate?

The starting point should always be the EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK homepage, which includes a library of information material, such as the annual thematic guidelines. The latter document was mainly drafted by POLIS Network. Furthermore, you can learn more about the participation of your city on the dedicated EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK library.

Do you have ideas and would like to submit your sustainable action?

Don’t hesitate to inspire other stakeholders and submit your local action in the MOBILITYACTIONS framework, which allows you to be part of the actions library and share your ideas that are based on sustainable mobility. If you want to learn about local activities during the EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK, we highly recommend you to follow the initiative on Twitter and Instagram.
