Call for European Rail Congress Awards

Chair of the Awards judging panel, Brian Simpson MEP, who is also Chair of the European Parliament’s Transport Committee, said: “We are looking forward to seeing evidence of excellence and innovation across a wide spectrum of railway professionalism on the European rail network."

The Awards will celebrate and reward railway excellence across 19 different areas ranging from passenger and freight operator of the year to excellence in technology. To enter the awards companies are invited to submit their applications online at www.europeanrailcongress.com by the 19 April 2013.

Award categories relevant to authorities are:

Best Partnership of the Year: Submissions should demonstrate how effective teamwork, or partnership - working with other agencies or organisations, has raised the standards of rail services, facilities or the customer experience. Read more.

Most Innovative:  Submissions should be for projects possessing a unique quality. This could be for a project that is the first of its kind, or it may be the innovative application of existing products and services. Read more.

Excellence in Environmental Sustainability: This award will be given to those that can measurably show their excellent commitment and contribution towards sustainable development. Submissions should demonstrate how your business practices, your introduction of a new product or your innovation has successfully reduced your impact on the environment (for example reduced carbon footprint). Best Integration:  This award will be given to those demonstrating the best contribution to facilitating, improving or encouraging integration between rail and other modes. Submissions could focus on new or improved interchange facilities; innovative marketing campaigns; integrated ticketing or multi-modal information services, for example. Read more.
