Apply now: EU Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) Award for cities

The SUMP Award is presented within the framework of the European Commission's Sustainable Urban Mobility campaign 'Do the right mix'. The 2012 award focused on stakeholder and citizen participation in the SUMP, where Polis member Toulouse was among the three finalists. This year's edition will look at the integration of economic, social, and environmental policy criteria in SUMPs. The 2014 award will look at monitoring the implementation to improve the SUMP.

The award criteria are closely linked to the Eltis SUMP Guidelines. The concrete criteria, against which the expert jury will assess the applications, are available here.

European Commission Vice-President Siim Kallas, responsible for transport, said: "This year's award will showcase plans that meet the major challenge for sustainable urban mobility planning at this time, namely balancing economic and social issues with environmental concerns in a pragmatic way. I am looking forward to hearing about the excellent plans that are taking shape across Europe."
