Better streets for better cities: Final Event of the MORE project

The final event of the EU-funded project, “Better streets for better cities”, will take place in Brussels on 17 February 2022.

As the MORE project draws to a close, the experts and practitioners who have contributed to shape innovative concepts and tools for the reallocation of road space will gather in Brussels to present their experience and findings.

Over the past three years, MORE has worked to identify existing and future pressures on busy roads connecting five European cities with the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T). Such pressures include factors such as demographic change, technological advances, economic growth, and the evolution of lifestyles.

On 17 February, the event will address the concepts, context and challenges of street design, and will provide participants an opportunity to get acquainted with the street redesign process developed my MORE. Representatives from the cities of Budapest, Constanta, Lisbon, London and Malmö will share their experiences and tips for success.

New process and tools to design the city of places

Urban policy objectives are evolving. European cities are pursuing bold visions to transform from car-oriented cities to cities that promote sustainable urban mobility and better and more resilient urban environments, favouring street activities and social interactions. The tools and processes developed by MORE will guide transport and planning authorities in this process by engaging residents and stakeholders and considering the needs of all users.
