EU Green Week

21 May 2018 - 25 May 2018 Brussels, Europe

DG Environment of the European Commission organises the EU Green Week 2018, from 21 to 25 May 2018. The theme will be Green cities for a greener future. The week opens on 21/5 in Utrecht and closes on 25/5 in Madrid. A high level EU Green Cities Summit will take place in Brussels, 22-24/5 and partner events take place all over Europe.

The week explores ways in which the EU is helping cities to become better places to live and work.

The transport session of the EU Green Cities Summit in Brussels focuses on Sustainable Urban Mobility Planning, and will be moderated by Polis’ Florinda Boschetti (session 2.4 “Greening the city with sustainable urban mobility planning”, 23 May 09:30-11:00h). Cities are invited to open up on challenges for sustainable mobility and how they try to overcome them. European Commission representatives will present the EU urban mobility policy, focusing on the potential of SUMPs to provide long-lasting solutions that are supported by city residents. The session will include presentations from City of Turda, Romania, winner of the 2017 SUMP Award and City of Malmö, Sweden, on how SUMP can help a city achieve its green objectives and help clear congestion.
