Final SafetyCube Conference

22 March 2018 - 23 March 2018 Vienna, Austria

The Final SafetyCube Conference will reveal the SafetyCube Decision Support System (DSS). The DSS enables policy-makers to select and implement the most appropriate strategies, measures and cost-effective approaches to reduce casualties of all road user types and all severities in Europe and worldwide.

Road safety policy-making is increasingly based on reliable accident data which can show trends and provide information about crash types. However, the knowledge about road safety problems and risks as well as the effectiveness of measures to improve safety is less clear and accessible. Finding the best solution to a particular road safety problem can be a challenge for policy-makers and stakeholders. For example, is it the most cost effective to reduce speed related crashes by education, road design or vehicle based technical measures? The answer can be found in the large amount of road safety knowledge available in scientific literature and project reports. However, for many policy-makers it is difficult and time-consuming to assess all the available information to build a complete picture. SafetyCube (Safety CaUsation, Benefits and Efficiency) is a research project funded by the European Commission under Horizon 2020, in the domain of Road Safety. The primary objective of the SafetyCube project was to develop an innovative and web-based Road Safety Decision Support System (DSS) that will enable policy-makers and stakeholders to select and implement the most appropriate strategies, measures and cost-effective approaches to reduce casualties of all road user types and all severities in Europe and worldwide.

SafetyCube will conclude its work in April 2018 and will present the DSS at its final conference:

  • 22 and 23 March 2018, 1 ½ days, starting 9:00am on the 22nd
  • Palais Auersperg in the city centre of Vienna, Austria
