Unlocking Urban Mobility Behaviour Change: Joint Project Conference: MOBI, PTP-CYCLE, STARS

18 February 2016 Brussels, Belgium

MOBI, PTP-Cycle, and STARS projects will organise a conference on 18 February 2016 in Brussels to present results and share knowledge with European cities on embedding cycling culture in schools, delivering personalised travel advice, and promoting sustainable mobility among employees through gamification.

This conference is a joint initiative of the European co-funded projects STARS, PTP-Cycle, and MOBI which will come to an end in 2016.

The conference will present final results and conclusions drawn from each project at three break-out sessions to shed light on:

  • Biking take up among school children through accreditation schemes;
  • Cost-benefit analysis of personalised travel planning in different settings (residential, workplaces and universities);
  • The power of gamification to encourage a change in travel behaviour;
  • The impact of European co-funded projects to decarbonise road traffic.

A roundtable with international speakers will debate what initiatives prove cost effective for cities to reduce car traffic, air emissions and noise, and how cities, urban and transport planners can tap into travel behaviour change techniques to better cater for pedestrian and cyclists.

The conference language will be English.

Conference programme

The PTP-CYCLE, STARS and MOBI projects all share the common theme of sustainable mobility behaviour change. Whilst our target audiences and approaches have been different, they have realised a shift in attitude or behaviour in workplaces, schools, universities, households and at public events: increasing cycling, walking and public transport and reducing single occupancy car use.

This event will impart nearly three years of learning and results, key success factors, policy recommendations and all the practical examples and guidance documents that you will need to boost your behaviour change programmes in your city.

The final conference programme is available here.

Students and teachers from the nine STARS cities and regions will attend this event. A dedicated STARS Pupils programme has been organised for them, and it is available here.

  • PTP-Cycle project Final report

    The PTP-Cycle project produced a final report rich with facts and figures about personalised travel plans (PTP) delivery in four different target groups in Antwerp, Burgos, Ljubljana, London (Haringey and Greenwich) and Riga. This publication presents the outcomes and lessons learned from the demonstrations to inspire other cities and mobility stakeholders to deliver PTP programmes of their own.
