"Building the Liveable and Healthy City" workshop

18 November 2015 Brussels, Belgium

The European project PASTA "Promoting Physical Activity through Sustainable Transport Approaches" is organising a workshop on 18 November 2015 in Brussels, to showcase active travel good practice examples and present the updated health economic assessment tool (HEAT) developed by the World Health Organisation.

"Building the Liveable and Healthy City" workshop aims to take stock of the city survey on active mobility behaviour in seven European cities: Antwerp, Barcelona, Rome, London, Oerebro, Vienna, and Zurich, and present early findings to an expert audience.

The event will look at:

  • Successful city-based active travel measures;
  • Tools for urban planners, transport and health practitioners to maximise the health benefits of active mobility;
  • Examples of European cities which have used HEAT to develop active travel plans.

Free training on the health economic assessment tool (HEAT)

The session "Quantifying the Health and Related Economic Benefits" will look at:

  • The Health Economic Assessment Tool for walking and cycling (HEAT);
  • What is it about and having a look at its online interface;
  • Using the HEAT results for assessments and policy making.

The workshop will take place on 18 November 2015, from 10am to 3pm, in Brussels.

The workshop agenda can be viewed here.

The event is open to: local, regional and national authorities, researchers, urban and transport planning practitioners, advocacy groups and civil society organisations.
