Sustainable Energy Week 2012: Call to organise Energy Days and to apply for the award

In 2011, 720 events took place in all parts of Europe, as well as Asia and North Africa in which energy efficiency and renewable energy was promoted, discussed and celebrated (see 2011 photos and videos). For 2012, authoroities in cooperation with other local actors start preparing local Energy Days.

Organising an Energy Day

An Energy Day is a non-for-profit event that promotes energy efficiency or renewable energy and takes place between 16 and 24 June 2012. Local or regional authorities as well as companies, organisations, public bodies, NGOs, research associations and others organise events such as open-doors day, educational workshops, exhibitions where companies present and demonstrate clean energy technologies to the public, fair, conference, media campaign, a concert, etc.

Organising an Energy Day means being part of a European campaign, getting enhanced visibility, media attention and additional European communication platforms, and strengthens a city’s profile. More information.

Winning the Sustainable Energy Europe Awards

The annual Sustainable Energy Europe Awards reward best-in-class initiatives that promote renewable energy or energy efficiency.

Projects in the travel category must relate to mobility of people and goods in energy-efficient ways or with the help of renewable energy sources, for example bike-for-rent systems, urban cycling audits, green mobility planning, eco-fuel buses, etc. Research and Demonstration (R&D) projects and products are not eligible. The Awards Ceremony is one highlight of EU Sustainable Energy Week and attracts media interest from across Europe. Application for the Sustainable Energy Europe Awards is possible until 29 February 2012. More information.
