Momentum to share outcomes with the users: Final OASIS User Forum on 15 and 16 November 2011 in Milan, Italy

On Tuesday 15 November 2011 a group of users will test and evaluate the OASIS applications and online trainings for older people near the city of Milan in Italy. “The final OASIS User forum will mark the four years of activities of OASIS” says Silvio Bonfiglio who coordinates the project. “This will be the momentum to share its outcomes with the user community before the project ends in December 2011.”

With the help of smart phones, tablet PCs and other mobile devices a group of older people will test the following applications: The Environmental Control & Trip Planner, the Brain & Skill Training, the Nutritional Advisor, the Activity Coach & Health Monitoring and the Social Community Platform.

The 65 participating older people will test the applications at the User Forum venues at two elderly centres situated in the villages of Vanzaghello and Buscate. The users will provide valuable feedback and will judge whether the applications are functional, user friendly and useful.

Besides witnessing the OASIS experience, the international participants will interact with the Scientific Advisory Board members, the local elderly population, the local authorities and the developers of the OASIS technologies during the plenary discussions.

The following day, on 16 November 2011, the international members of the Scientific Advisory Board will comment on specific scientific outcomes and technical aspects of OASIS and will participate in business-oriented debates, aiming to explore the future business scenarios for OASIS.

The OASIS project recognizes the aging society and utilizes Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to provide holistic services to older people. Ten different applications have been developed which support physical and psychological independence, stimulate social engagement and foster emotional well-being of older people. The project runs from January 2008 to December 2011.
