Fuel Cells and Hydrogen 2 Joint Undertaking initiative with Regions and Cities on hydrogen and fuel cell-based products

The goal of this second phase is to engage as many interested stakeholders as possible to establish an ambitious collaboration platform in which industry, research, local, national and European officials act together and reinforce their commitment to an effective European platform on fuel cells and hydrogen.

A study will be launched in early 2017 in order to explore and state the present financing needs, learn about the readiness of hydrogen/fuel cell technologies and set up ways to implement them. Key phases include the following:

  • Engagement with EU regions/cities and establishment of a collaboration framework, through the signature of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)
  • Official signing ceremony to launch the initiative on the occasion of the Stakeholder Forum on the 23rd of November 2016 in Brussels, in which high level representatives from all those regions/cities having signed the MoU will be invited to symbolic signing event
  • Launch of a tender for supporting the initiative in early 2017 and start of the study
  • Implementation of the funding/financial schemes necessary to demonstrate, deploy and commercialise said applications (from 2018)

These aspects are briefly laid out in the presentation of the study available here. The Fuel Cells and Hydrogen 2 Joint Undertaking (FCH 2 JU) initiative kindly invites regions and cities to sign the Memorandum of Understanding. Please, follow this link to sign the Memorandum.
