Flanders Region commits to innovation for sustainable transport

The VIM develops mobility projects that make the transport of people and goods safer and more sustainble. The Flanders Region has granted a subsidy of about €2,5 million, with in addition a potential of an extra €2 million in project money.

The mobility projects envisaged will be aimed at smart multi-modal solutions that have positive societal and economic impacts, less time-loss on the road, more efficiency gains, less carbon dioxide emissions and direct as well as indirect job creation. VIM cooperates for its activities with companies, governments and research organisations.

Since its start in 2007, VIM has completed 11 succesful projects. As a current example of its activities, the OLYMPUS project can be mentioned, one of 5 Flanders regional real life laboratories for electric vehicle deployment.
