FESTmob: when summer festivals embrace sustainable mobility in Puglia, Italy
Moving about in cities is nowadays crucial for our quality of life. So why don’t we share best practices with people outside the traditional channels (conferences and seminars), but in public spaces and and festivals where people do actually meet? This is the leading idea of FESTmob, “which is not a mobility festival, but rather it is a series of summer festivals across the region where sustainable mobility will be the special guest”, says Mr Guglielmo Minervini, Councilor of Region Puglia.
The positive message will be conveyed in occasion of concerts and other cultural events. People will discover the advantages of cycling in occasion of a book presentation and will receive gadgets as a reward for having chosen the bicycle to reach the Summer Music Village. Opera lovers will organize a car pooling to attend performances. Those who opt for the train at the Carpino folk festival will share a coach with a band paying live music onboard.
The initiative was launched on July 11 and will run through the months of July and August 2012.
