Contribution of ITS to urban mobility
When presenting new ITS applications or traffic management measures to decision makers, it is often difficult to quantify the benefits of these new systems. It may be reasonably easy to explain how these new systems will help to resolve a particular problem; however, it is not commonplace to assess the wider policy impacts (post-deployment) and even less common to attempt to predict such policy impacts (pre-deployment).
During the session, representatives of the administrations of Berne and Brussels will each present the approach taken to evaluate the impact of an ITS-enabled measure
Moderator: Sylvain Haon, Polis
Introductory presentations
- The results of the road-user charging simulation study in Berne, Dr Ulrich Seewer, Canton Berne
- Presenting an ITS project to decision makers – the key performance indicators approach of the CONDUITS project, Pierre Schmitz, Brussels Capital Region
- Panel discussion with the participation of Josef Czako (Kapsch), Dr Ulrich Seewer (Canton Berne), Pierre Schmitz (Brussels Capital Region), Christian Heimgartner (City of Zurich) and Niv Eden (Technion)
Following the presentations, the panel discussion will address a number of issues. How can decision support tools support the deployment of ITS? Which other measures are needed to support the deployment of ITS? What can the EC do to promote the adoption of these measures?
The session will finish with a lunch offered by Kapsch.
Registration for this session is not required. The number of seats is limited however and you are therefore advised to arrive on time
