CONDUITS Final Conference on 22 June

The European projects CONDUITS and 2DECIDE are joining forces on 22 June in Brussels for a conference to present the findings of the respective projects and to engage with the key stakeholders on the next steps.

CONDUITS and 2DECIDE have set out to develop tools to assist public authorities in making decisions on which ITS to implement. There is a plethora of ITS on the market today but there is little guidance on which technology or application can most adequately address a problem or help deliver a particular transport policy objective or transport measure.

CONDUITS has defined a set of key performance indicators for urban ITS. The KPIs provide a method for an ITS solution to be assessed against the main pillars of urban transport policy, namely,  pollution reduction, traffic efficiency, road safety, social inclusion and land use.2DECIDE has developed a web-based tool that will provide advice on suitable ITS applications (including rationale, impacts, requirements) based on computed user input information (problems, needs, objectives, context).

What can delegates expect to gain?

During the conference, delegates will discover the tools that have been developed within CONDUITS and 2DECIDE and learn about the results of the practical application of these tools. In the case of CONDUITS, the KPIs will have been tested in the cities of Paris, Rome and Barcelona. The 2DECIDE web-based tool is being piloted over a period of 6 months.

Delegates will be encouraged to s.hare their opinions on these tools especially on their usability and applicability. There will also be discussion on how to achieve a wide take-up of these tools within the ITS community, especially among public authorities. The real benefits of these tools will become greater as their application increases, leading to more knowledge and evidence about impacts and good practice.
