Bologna launches European Cycling Challenge 2013
The challenge is open to local authorities and consists of a mileage challenge where groups of cyclists track their 'transport cycling' trips during a month and quantify the CO2 savings. The 2012 edition saw the participation of 7 EU cities recording more than 89 000 km of cycling.
The competition is implemented in collaboration with Endomondo (www.ednomondo.com) whose GPS tracking enables cities to have 'heat maps' highlighting the most used urban cycle paths. This offers a useful tool for planning and monitoring cyclist flows in cities.
City authorities interested in take part in the challenge must express their interest by 31 December 2012. For further information, go to: http://www.srmbologna.it/ecc2013/ or email: ecc2013@srmbologna.it
