Dear members,

We are glad to announce that registration is now open for the 2019 Annual Polis Conference "Innovation in Transport for Sustainable Cities and Regions" and that the draft programme is online! The conference is taking place at The Egg in Brussels on 27-28 November with the AGA scheduled for the day before. Please, make sure to register through this link. Up to three representatives per member enjoy free registration.

I would also like to invite you to download here the full 12th issue of Thinking Cities, which this time explores the constant balancing act that cities have to perform when it comes to modal shift and multimodality. I am glad to see so many members featured in the magazine!

For now, I wish you a pleasant read and a relaxing summer ahead!

The International Conference of Walking and Liveable Communities will be organised in Polis member Rotterdam from the 7th to the 10th of October 2019. Polis is participating with the contribution of our Secretary General Karen Vancluysen in a session about walking in MaaS. The result of the ISAAC project’s survey will be presented as well.

Interested in making your Port city more sustainable?

Aiming at tackling some of the main challenges EU Port cities are facing, the CIVITAS PORTIS EU Project created the Polis City2City Cooperation Programme. The project, which has implemented mobility solutions in Aberdeen, Antwerp, Constanta, Klaipeda and Trieste, has now opened a call for interest for other Port Cities to join the Programme and benefit from its learnings.

The CIVITAS Awards highlight some of the most ambitious, innovative, and successful sustainable urban mobility work currently being carried out.

They provide a prime platform for towns and cities to demonstrate their excellence in the field, both in terms of policymaking and implemented measures, whilst also having their efforts recognised by the European Commission.

Winners serve as role models to other towns and cities across Europe, inspiring them in their own initiatives to make cleaner and better urban transport.
