European Transport Conference (ETC) 2025

From 17 to 19 September, the Association for European Transport (AET) is hosting its European Transport Conference (ETC) at the University of Antwerp, Belgium. Do not miss out on this leading event now at its 53rd edition!

The European Transport Conference (ETC) is a leading event in the world of transport, attracting transport policymakers, practitioners and researchers from all over Europe and beyond. The 53rd edition of the conference, organised annually by the Association for European Transport (AET), will take place from 17 to 19 February at the University of Antwerp, Belgium.

What to expect

Get ready for three days of thought-provoking sessions covering all major transport themes featuring first-class speakers and bringing together around 550 delegates from 30 countries. Over 250 cutting-edge research papers will be presented!

Alongside the various parallel sessions and networking opportunities, site visits will also be featured in the programme.

What is on the agenda for ETC 2025?

In-depth presentations on policy issues, best practices and research findings across the broad spectrum of transport!

In a context where numerous and complex challenges keep emerging—from the climate emergency to political and economic instability—transport professionals must be able to provide a reliable evidence base, nuanced analyses, and a broad portfolio of solutions to support decision-making. Transport planners need to keep up with EU policy developments while ensuring citizens' buy-in of new measures, tools, and approaches.

To make this possible, there needs to be bridges between research, policy and practice. The agenda for ETC 2025 reflects this challenging landscape and features topics such as:

  • Moving towards sustainable transport in a polarised world.
  • Providing access and transport in times of financial challenges.
  • Building adaptability and resilience into transport systems and decision-making.
  • Utilising technology, Artificial Intelligence and digital twins to improve transport systems and transport research.
  • Dealing with labour, resource, infrastructure and energy challenges in freight and passenger transport.
  • Creating healthy, efficient, safe and inclusive transport schemes for current and future generations.
  • Shaping functional and comfortable cities provides necessary access for all ages and capabilities.
  • Expanding the 21st-century planners' toolkit with fit-for-purpose models and decision support systems.
