Electromobility

Polis supports the efforts of its members who are committed to the deployment of electric vehicles.

According to Polis members, electromobility can contribute to a more sustainable urban mobility system provided that electric vehicles are part of a sustainable urban mobility policy. This suggests that a technological transition should accompany a transition towards more sustainable mobility behaviours and innovative mobility services.

European local authorities have a major role to play in the deployment of electric vehicles. They are key players needed to stimulate the market of electric vehicles, through:

  • the definition of an urban mobility policy which provides for the efficient and sustainable introduction of electric vehicles;
  • the deployment and implementation of a charging infrastructure;
  • the definition of incentives in the local urban mobility and energy policies;
  • their influence in the constitution of joint procurement and fleet purchases.
