Tisséo-SMTC wins National Energy Globe France

The national Energy Globe Award France 2015 was awarded to Tisséo-SMTC for its mobility management in Toulouse. The award recognizes outstanding performance in terms of energy efficiency, renewable energy and resource conservation worldwide.

Polis member Tisséo-SMTC was awarded for its mobility management activities in Toulouse. Shortly summarized the project focuses on: Tisséo-SMTC has been accompanying more than 140 organizations in a Workplace Mobility Plan approach, providing intermodality in public transport and thus avoiding emissions and transport routes.

As part of this year’s World Environment Day the project was also presented by Energy Globe as part of a global online campaign to a wide audience. The campaign ran under the patronage of UNESCO and in cooperation with UNEP and received great recognition and a large echo. "To be honored with this award is a great recognition of our work for a better environment and motivates us to continue our endeavors in the future", said  Jean-Michel Lattes of Tisséo-SMTC.

With 177 participating countries and more than 1500 project entries each year, it is an important environmental prize. ENERGY GLOBE is an internationally recognized trade mark for sustainability. Projects for the Energy Globe Award 2016 can now be submitted.

About the award winner Tisséo-SMTC

Tisséo-SMTC, the Public Transport Authority of the agglomeration Toulouse, is the Mobility Organizing Authority of 101 cities. It is responsible for the management and the development of the Tisséo public transport network. Parallel to this, SMTC has developed services and partnerships in the Mobility Management field, whose objectives are to offer alternatives to the usage of individual cars alongside the Tisséo public transport network. This is particularly the case as far as commuting and work related travel are concerned, to guarantee the intermodality with other public transport operators.

The services developed internally at Tisséo-SMTC relate to providing methodological accompaniment to organizations committing to a Workplace Mobility Plan including the following: Working and participatory methods, mobility diagnostic studies, mobility surveys, geo-tracking and a collaborative extranet platform, the development of carpooling (a carpooling service that puts passengers and drivers in touch), the development of parking slots reserved for carpooling and carpooling halts, development of car-sharing parking slots and secure cycle parking points at numerous Park and Rides, bicycle hire, and the interoperability of ticketing systems with local bike-sharing and car-sharing operators. To date, the SMTC has accompanied more than 140 organizations in the Workplace Mobility Plan approach and has more than 3,000 people registered with its carpooling service as part of a policy contributing to the reduction of energy consumption and emissions of pollutants. In the course of this project, 5.4 m km of car travel and more than 1.1 m kg of CO2 have been avoided.
