Background

SWITCH is a two-year project implementing personalised travel plan in five European cities: Antwerp, Donostia/San Sebastian, Gdansk, London Borough of Hounslow, and Vienna. The project targets people in a period of a life-change and intends to shift reliance on car transport for short journey to alternative and active travel.

SWITCH's main objective is to reduce car traffic by switching short urban car journeys to walking and cycling. Breaking car based routines not only impacts mode choice for short trips but opens people's minds to other options for other journeys.

By focusing on personalised plans and identifying health and environmental benefits, project partners will use their expertise to implement behaviour change approaches in five European cities.

This will result in the elaboration a practical and transferable methodology, using insight from public health, mobility campaigning and the use of ICT solutions.
