Dear members,

We are pleased to welcome Southampton as a new member in the Polis network! We are delighted to work with Southampton and look forward a fruitful cooperation and an excellent integration to the network!

Last week, we briefed you on ongoing initiatives on electromobility on the European level with the release of the 'Polis Electromobiliy Agenda'. This week, it is time to shape the Polis position on Clean Power for Transport: An invitation to comment on the draft position and join a web conference on Monday 17 June has been sent to you yesterday. More information can also be found in this InfoPolis.

Following the request of many authors, the deadline for abstracts for this year's Polis Conference has been prolonged for Polis members: Please submit your abstracts until Friday, 14 June online!

Polis held workshop on local authorities and European networking

Polis held a workshop in Dublin on 5 June on the benefits of European networking for local authorities. Various practical examples were shown of how Dublin had adopted measures implemented elsewhere, such as the bicycle counting machine (seen in Aalborg) and the joint running of trams and buses at stops (seen in Dresden).

Brussels region invests in mobile speed enforcement

The Brussels Region is one of the first Belgian authorities to use mobile speed cameras. The region takes this measure because the surprise effect of fixed speed cameras has dissepated, says Regional transport minister Brigitte Grouwels.

Polis members CDV, Edinburgh and Rotterdam have set up the ECOSTARS fleet recognition scheme, and have been nominated for the Sustainable Energy Europe (SEE) Award. The Award recognises outstanding projects in energy efficiency, renewable energy sources and clean transport.

Call for cities and regions to apply for E-Visionary Award

The E-Visionary Award is presented by the World Electric Vehicle Association (WEVA) to recognize cities and regions for their initiatives to support the uptake of electric vehicles and for making Electric Mobility a reality in the lives of their inhabitants. Deadline to apply is 1 September.
