Today sees the release of the Call for Speakers at the 2013 Annual Polis Conference (4-5 December 2013 in Brussels): Abstracts displaying transport innovation can be submitted as of today until 7 June using the online submission form: http://www.polisnetwork.eu/2013conference.

We look specifically forward to many contributions from Polis members!

EU-Public Private Smart Move High Level Group debates outcomes on 15 May - Brussels

The objective and mandate of the High Level Group was to bring together representatives of public and private EU road transport professionals, civil servant, politicians and experts. Polis participated to this group. Together, they have worked out policy and business recommendations and a long term Action Plan on how to double the number of users of collective passenger transport by road, in particular by bus, coach and taxi by 2025. These recommendations are discussed in a public debate on 15 May in the European Parliament.

Rotterdam launched ECOSTARS to engage with fleet operators

Lower energy use, less costs, less carbon emission and better air quality: These are the objectives under which Rotterdam decided to set up the ECOSTARS fleet recognition scheme under the umbrella of the Rotterdam Climate Initiative (RCI). Rotterdam implements the scheme in coherence with the national award system 'Lean and Green'.

3 of the 4 cities shortlisted for European Green Capital 2015 are Polis members

Brussels, Glasgow, Bristol and Ljubljana have been shortlisted by the European Commission for European Green Capital 2015.

The TIDE project will support five Polis members to deploy innovative transport measures

Out of over 60 applications, the TIDE project, with the approval of the European Commission, has selected ten Champion cities to work closely with the TIDE consortium. Five out of ten are Polis members: Barcelona, Bologna, Ghent, Rome and Aalborg.

New ITS Planning Tool available for cities hosting large events

Last week saw the release of the newly developed STADIUM ITS online guide. The guide features an interactive ITS Decision Support Tool allowing cities to choose the most appropriate ITS tools to respond to transport challenges. The system has been developed to support cities which are hosting large events.

QUEST (Quality management tool for Urban Efficient Sustainable Transport) released final brochure

It presents the tool and the process of auditing and shares cities’ testimonies on using the tool. The 2-and-a-half year project QUEST will come to an end in October 2013. With substantial work in about 50 cities, QUEST has summarized the most important things to know about the tool and the experience with it in its final brochure.

Open call: Funding for sustainable urban mobility campaigns

The European Commission's Sustainable Urban Mobility (SUM) campaign ("Do the right mix") has launched a second call for SUM funding applications. The funding available under this call will co-finance campaign initiatives taking place during the period running from 1 July 2013 to 30 June 2014. Applications for the second round of funding must be submitted before 12:00 (CET) on 31 May 2013.
