Southampton's economic importance is related to the presence of two regional transport hubs: the international airport and international seaport. The city centre is identified as key area for economic regeneration and the city also has plans to become the country's leading low carbon city.The city's transport focus is based on ensuring the vitality of the
local economy, reducing the environmental impacts of transport, continued delivery of transport improvements, addressing health problems and improving access to the port and around the city.
