The French region of Poitou-Charentes has been working to achieve a clean transport systems. Regional train lines have been modernised, and new trains have been purchased, increasing the levels of use by passengers. Moreover, the region has worked to promote car-pooling and to boost the development and deployment of electric vehicles with the overall goal of reducing the use of private cars.
