Naples (IT)
The Province of Naples in Italy assumed competences in public transport by road since October 2003. In terms of size, inhabitants and its location as crossroads for interprovincial migrations, managing the mobility needs of the province provides a complex task.
The province’s commitment is to respond adequately to the mobility needs of citizens, organising an efficient network of services, and facilitating links between the urban-metropolitan centres and their suburbs. The objective is to limit the widespread use of private vehicles in support of public transport, and to provide alternative sustainable mobility.
The Province of Naples plans, administers and supervises the suburban public transport services at a local level.
