Merseytravel is the transport authority for Merseyside, a metropolitan county in North West England. The current Transport Plan is designed to put in place high quality public transport systems. The vision is a city region committed to a low carbon future which has a transport network and mobility culture that positively contributes to a thriving economy and the health and wellbeing of its citizens where sustainable travel is the option of choice.
Neil Scales, Chief Executive and Director General of Merseytravel, published an article in the Real Time Passenger Information Supplement of the magazine eurotransport, published in vol. 9, issue 3, 2001, p 7-9 of the supplement: Steering RTPI in the right direction.
Merseytravel is involved in EU projects: BIONIC, START and Climatlantic.
